I am a delinquent...

It's pretty official... and I know it most likely does not have to be said but it's true. I am horrible at keeping up with this darn blog. It seemed like such a good idea during my pregnancy (prior to chasing children + keeping up with routines). The days have slipped away from me... they have been documented in one form or another via instagram/facebook/personal reflection or mommy bragging but they have not made it to this page. I don't feel bad. There is just too much fun to be had... We have been busy enjoying each other, our crazy crew. Our little Kalin tribe. Makes my heart smile.

Miller is turning one in a few weeks and I am in complete disbelief. This past year has flown by. It has been quite the ride. I haven't "loved" every second of it but I honestly wouldn't trade any of it for the world. I have cried. I have laughed. I have wondered how the hell we will survive... but most of all I have lived it. Truly lived it... I now have experiences + memories that are mine forever or at least as long as my mind stays with me (family history = possible reality). I am proud of what our little people and our little family has accomplished this past year and I look forward to what lies ahead of us! Grey + Mills amaze me every single day and Chris keeps me going strong. We are happy and in love. It's pretty neat.
Love really is the coal that makes this train roll... (it had to be said)

Adventures with Grey:
Grey is currently learning how to ride a bike! We are proud to say she is fully potty trained, knows her ABC's and counts to 6 with number recognition (total mom brag!). "Goose" as we call her fondly is starting playschool in the fall

Adventures with Millie:
Mill is walking now, rocking 5 teeth and thinks it is hilarious to climb the stairs... We recently embarked on the adventure of getting Mill to sleep in her crib all night (hasn't been as fun as it sounds... )

Adventures with Ella:
Same old puppy... getting into trouble!

Introducing MILLER ELSIE ANNABETH KALIN

We are thrilled to bits to announce the arrival of our second wonderful little lady Miller ("Milli" for short) on May 7, 2013. She is incredible and deliciously adorable. Honest to goodness, we can't get enough of her! Ooooh those cute chubby cheeks, right sided dimple and that little bum chin just melt my heart!
Milli arrived at 1016am after 9 fairly solid hours of labour (yikes!). She is so sweet and petite @ 6 pounds 3 ounces and 19 1/4 inches long.

Life with 2 little ladies has been interesting thus far, and already Milli is showing us her wonderfully calm and cool personality... it is amazing to see the differences between our daughters. I must add, we are incredibly grateful for her pretty impressive sleeping habits (hopefully that won't change anytime soon).
Grey is very much the older sister and is full of kisses and "hugs" for Milli. I have caught her more than once trying to tell her little sister what to do... Should be interesting in the near future ;)

A note to Miller:

Our Dear Milli,
You have stolen our hearts (you + your sister now hold the keys) and we are extremely blessed to have you in our lives. It has been a long and hard road to meet you but worth every obstacle we had to overcome. You are everything we could have imagined and we can't wait to watch you grow into the gorgeous and incredible woman we know you will become. We promise to keep you safe and do our very best to lead you down the right path... We will believe in your dreams and encourage you every step of the way. We know you will accomplish great things.

We love you so much more than you will ever know.

Love,
Mommy & Daddy (and Grey)

a moment to breathe...

Well that was a long pause... as most of you know we have had a very interesting couple of months. Christmas came and went (Grey had a particularly successful year and we started a new family tradition of choosing a local charity for Grey to make a Christmas contribution to).

January-We put our first family home on the market and it SOLD 5 days later... hence the reason for the massive pause in our baby updates.

February- was a big one for our BIG 1! Grey's first birthday was celebrated with lots of love + laughter at Servus place in St. Albert. There were balloons and cotton candy galore. Soft pink + butter yellow were the colours and a delicious red velvet cake from Fuss for the little lady.
February also meant momma went back to work so Grey and daddy have been spending some lovely one on one time :) He is such an awesome dad xoxo

March- Grey is now a full time runner! Why walk when you can run... an exciting time but also a time for full-on baby proofing...
We were homeless and living with Grandpa + Grandma for about 3 weeks... we are very fortunate to have such wonderful families who are literally willing to drop everything to give us a hand.

April- Grey is now rocking 11 teeth and #12 is well on its way!!!
We finally took possession of our new home and we are fully taking advantage of the trails and all that St. Albert has to offer (so excited for the farmer's market and children's festival this year!!)
Daddy turned 29 and Auntie Kiki turned 20... and Grey loves cake :)

Grey has quite the little vocabulary now (Hello, hi, mama, daddy, Ella, puppy, birdie, fishes, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, toes, head, walk, apple, banana, auntie, papa, pretty, kiss, hug, shoes, phone, puff, cookie, "good girl", her favourite word is BATH and i swear she says "I love you too") and she loooovvveessss to dance! Ellen DeGeneres eat your heart out... :)

brushing those pearly whites...

A month of firsts....

It has been quite awhile since our last post... but with good reason. We have been off experiencing many new first time experiences.

In the last month we have gone on Grey's first, second, third & fourth plane flight. To Saskatoon and Montreal for the first time (not a single tear). Grey met great grandma... finally. Due to a hectic summer we had to postpone our previously planned trip -but we finally made it out there... If anything I think the fact that Grey is now a little older made it more enjoyable for everyone... she is full of personality and is ridiculously interactive. Not to mention ridiculously cute!!!

First hockey game

Thanksgiving & Halloween have come and gone (Our little ladybug stole the show... )

The Christmas tree is up and the first snow fall has shown Grey why we love Canada... mostly from indoors. It's beautiful and frigid all at once...

Grey is now rocking 2 bottom teeth AND 2 top teeth... crawling is old news. Standing is so much cooler... Grey is starting to say "Hi" and wave on command and is clapping up a mad storm...

We have had a super busy but fantastically enjoyable month...  looking forward to updating more a little later on.
